MODIS is a main instrument aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites. MODIS are viewing the entire Earth's surface acquiring data in 36 spectral bands, or groups of wavelengths.  The advantage of MODIS is that it has MODIS Data Products include Vegetation Indices.
