Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing is defined as the science and technology by which the characteristics of objects of interest can be identified, measured or analyzed the characteristics without direct contact.
NOAA defined remote sensing as "the science of obtaining information about objects or areas from a distance, typically from aircraft or satellites".

Remote sensors collect data by detecting the electromagnetic radiation reflected from Earth. Data can be used to monitor the Earth's surface. Remote sensing has a wide range of applications in coastal applications, ocean applications, hazard assessment and natural resource management.
